July 21st
Solar
Eclipse ~ tips on how to
'meet' this event.
from The StarHouse
and Robert Powell.
Note from the Editor
- technical constraints
kept us from getting
this to you on time -
but we are including it
here for your
information in meeting
similar events. Our
deepest apologies,
particularly to the
authors of this article,
for the time delay.
Dear Star Wisdom Friends:
A
celestial event is
fast arriving to which we
suggest you pay some
attention. It is a
solar eclipse (Moon
obscuring the Sun) that
stretches across
India and
China, over the most
populous centers of the
earth, and lasts a
relatively long time – over
6 minutes – indeed, the
longest solar eclipse for a
century in either direction
– because the Moon is
relatively very close to the
Earth (perigee) and thus
obscures the sun over a
larger area and over a
longer time.
Briefly, an eclipse of
the Sun severs that part of
the Earth beneath its shadow
(and extending to the whole
Earth) from its source of
light, warmth, and love –
the Sun – much more abruptly
and thoroughly than clouds
or nighttime. Into the
incision can come difficult
and retarding influences.
So – briefly – your job is
for that six+ minutes to
think of love, to feel love,
and to act lovingly – in a
focused manner. The
time of the center in the
USA is
July 21 evening,
7:35 PM Pacific, 8:35
Mountain, 9:35 Central, and
10:35 Eastern time (and
other times you can figure
out. Start some minutes
before and go some more
minutes afterwards.
Longer descriptions of
the event, consequences, and
ceremonial responses can be
found in the paper linked below
from Robert Powell (with
notes also from James
Gillen) and in Robert’s book
(with Kevin Dann), Christ
and the
Mayan Calendar: 2012
and the Coming of the
AntiChrist.
If you don’t have time
to plumb those depths, then
please take the seven
minutes to meditate upon the
good – in your thinking,
feeling, and willing. Don’t
emphasize the dire
predictions, etc. - but
rather feast upon goodness.

The Calendar:
JULY
The Sun moves through the second half of Gemini and through the
first half of Cancer this
month. There is a penumbral
lunar eclipse on the
7th of which
nothing can be seen in
Europe but which is visible
in the early morning hours
in America. On the 22nd
the longest solar eclipse
of the century takes place –
see entry below for 21st/22nd.
As it progresses through the third decan of Leo, it is still possible to
see Saturn after dusk
on the western horizon,
until toward the end of the
month when it disappears
from view (for the naked
eye).
Jupiter
continues its retrograde
movement through the first
two degrees of Aquarius and
re-enters Capricorn on the
22nd, where it
remains in the last decan of
the Goat until it re-enters
the Waterbearer on Christmas
Eve. This month the planet
of Zeus remains visible
throughout most of the
night. On the 10th
the almost Full Moon passes
3˝° north of the giant
planet, and at the same time
Jupiter passes just ˝° south
of Neptune (visible only
with a powerful telescope).
Mars leaves Aries on the 4th and is then visible in Taurus in the
morning sky as it makes its
way through the first two
decans of the Bull, passing
5° south of the Pleiades on
the 12th and 5°
north of Aldebaran on the 27th.
Venus is visible as morning star this month, passing through the whole of
Taurus and then entering
Gemini on the 27th.
In the middle of the month
the planet of Aphrodite
passes 3° north of
Aldebaran. There is a
spectacular sight on the
morning of the 19th
when the waning crescent
Moon, having passed 5° north
of Mars 17 hours earlier,
passes 6° north of Venus,
whereby Venus is seen east
of Aldebaran and Mars is
located in between Aldebaran
and the Pleiades.
Mercury
passes behind the Sun at
superior conjunction on the
13th/14th
and thus remains invisible
this month.

1 |
The Sun is in the
second decan of
Gemini, ruled by
Mars and associated
with the Dog, Canis
Major, whose leading
star Sirius is at
19˝° Gemini. Also
today, as mentioned
in the editorial
foreword, Pluto
returns to the exact
position (6°54’
Sagittarius), where
it was located at
the baptism of Jesus
in the river Jordan,
for the second time
this year – the
first time was on
January 15, and the
third and last time
will be on November
17/18. |
|
6 6 |
Alignment of the Sun
with Sirius at 19˝°
Gemini, the
brightest star in
the heavens – the
star of the Master
Jesus, the teacher
of Love. As the Sun
crosses the meridian
of Sirius today, a
triangular
relationship is
formed between our
Sun, Sirius, and
Shamballa, the
golden realm at the
heart of the Earth –
the Earth’s heart
chakra. |
|
7 |
Full Moon in
Sagittarius: healing
of the ten lepers
(Lk. 17:11; Chron.
313). Sun (20˝°
Gemini) opposite
Moon (20˝°
Sagittarius). At
this Full Moon there
is a penumbral lunar
eclipse – see above.
The Sun is aligned
with the mega star
Canopus (luminosity
14,000), known to
the Egyptians as the
star of Osiris. The
Sun is in the third
decan of Gemini,
ruled by the Sun and
associated with the
constellation of the
Lesser Dog, Canis
Minor. The second
star in this
constellation,
Gomeisa, signifying
endurance,
marks the neck of
the Lesser Dog at
27˝° Gemini. The
Lesser Dog was seen
by the Egyptians in
connection with
Horus, just as the
Greater Dog was seen
to be the dwelling
place of Isis, and
Orion was seen as
the cosmic abode of
Osiris. |
|
10 |
Conjunction of
Jupiter and Neptune
at 1° Aquarius,
where Neptune was
located at the
healing of two blind
men (Mt. 20:29;
Chron. 313).
|
|
13/14 |
Superior conjunction
of Mercury with the
Sun at 27° Gemini.
There was a superior
conjunction of
Mercury with the Sun
at the healing of
the blind youth
Manahem (Chron.
250). |
|
17 |
Sun enters
Cancer—the first
decan is ruled by
Mercury and is
associated with the
constellation of
Argo the Ship in
which, according to
Greek mythology,
Jason and the
Argonauts recovered
the Golden Fleece. |
|
18 |
Sun at 1° Cancer,
aligned with Procyon
(“redeemed”
or “redeeming”)
in the Lesser Dog,
where the Sun was
when Jesus taught
concerning the
baptism by fire (Lk.
12:49; Chron. 305). |
|
21/22 |
New Moon in Cancer:
Sun (4˝° Cancer)
conjunct Moon (4˝°
Cancer). At this New
Moon there is a
total solar
eclipse.
The total eclipse
begins just off the
coast of India at
00:51 UT on July 22,
and ends in
Polynesia at 04:19
UT on July 22. The
maximum eclipse is
at 02:35 UT on July
22, when the total
phase will last a
stunning 6 minutes
and 39 seconds.
Although at the
locations along the
path of totality of
this solar eclipse
the date is already
July 22, it is the
evening of July 21
in the USA when the
eclipse takes place.
The path of totality
passes right over
Varanasi, India, and
across the central
region of China,
crossing Shanghai.
As this is the
longest solar
eclipse of the
twenty-first
century, passing
over India and
China, where (in
these two countries)
forty per cent of
the world’s
population lives,
this has been
identified as a most
significant cosmic
phenomenon in our
time. It is also
noteworthy that July
22 is Mary
Magdalene’s festival
day in the Church
calendar. |
|
28 |
The Sun is now in
the second decan of
Cancer, ruled by
Venus. This decan
contains the star
cluster Praesepe,
the Beehive (12˝°
Cancer), and
according to Rudolf
Steiner in his
lectures on
bee-keeping: “Bees
surrender themselves
entirely to Venus,
unfolding a life of
love through the
whole beehive.”
This decan is
associated with the
neck of the Lesser
Bear, Ursa Minor. |
AUGUST
The Sun moves through the second half of Cancer and through the
first half of Leo this
month. There is a penumbral
lunar eclipse on the
5/6th of which
nothing can be seen in North
America but which is visible
in Europe.
Saturn
is too close to the Sun to
be seen and for the naked
eye does not emerge from the
rays of the Sun on the
morning horizon until the
middle of October. The ring
planet continues to progress
through the third decan of
Leo the Lion.
Jupiter
continues its retrograde
movement in the third decan
of Capricorn the Goat. With
its opposition to the Sun on
the 14th, this
month the planet of Zeus
remains visible throughout
the night. On the 6th
the Full Moon passes 3˝°
north of Jupiter.
Mars,
proceeds through the third
decan of Taurus and enters
Gemini on the 17th.
The red planet then passes
through most of the first
decan of Gemini by the end
of the month. The planet of
Ares is visible in the
morning sky throughout the
month.
On the 16th the
waning crescent Moon
conjoins with Mars, the Moon
some 3° north of the red
planet.
Venus
traverses Gemini to enter
Cancer on the 22nd.
The planet of Aphrodite is
visible in the morning sky.
On the 18th the
thin crescent of the waning
Moon passes 1˝° north of
Venus.
Toward the end of the month
Mercury, the planet
of intelligence and
movement, is visible as
evening star in more
southerly climes, but
remains invisible north of
the tropics. The planet of
Hermes passes swiftly
through Leo and enters Virgo
on the 20th, then
proceeding rapidly through
the first decan of the
Virgin. On the 17th
Mercury conjoins with
Saturn.
|
1 |
The Sun is now in
the second decan of
Cancer, ruled by
Venus.
This decan is
associated with the
neck of the Lesser
Bear, Ursa Minor. |
|
5/6 |
Full Moon in
Capricorn: teaching
of the baptism by
fire (Lk. 12:49;
Chron. 305). Sun
(19° Cancer)
opposite Moon (19°
Capricorn). At this
Full Moon there is a
penumbral lunar
eclipse – see above. |
|
8 |
The Sun is in the
third decan of
Cancer, ruled by the
Moon and associated
with the flank of
the Great Bear (Ursa
Major). |
|
12/13 |
The Sun is at 25˝°
Cancer, as at the
birth of Mary of
Nazareth (Chron.
118, 152).
|
|
14 |
The Sun (27° Cancer)
is opposite Jupiter
(27° Capricorn),
whereby Jupiter is
aligned with the
super mega star P
Cygni (star 34 in
Cygnus the Swan), a
luminous blue
variable estimated
to be 630,000 more
luminous than our
Sun. |
|
17 |
Sun enters Leo—the
first decan, ruled
by Saturn, is
associated with the
faint constellation
of Leo Minor, the
Lesser Lion, above
Leo and below the
Great Bear. Also
today, Mars enters
Gemini – see above –
and the Sun (0° Leo)
is opposite Neptune
(0° Aquarius). There
was an opposition of
the Sun and Neptune
at the raising of
Lazarus from the
dead and also at the
death of the Master
Jesus (Jesus of
Bethlehem) and at
the death of his
mother, the Virgin
Mary, in Ephesus
(Chron. 136, 157). |
|
20 |
New Moon in Leo:
conjunction of the
Moon and Sun at 3°
Leo, where the Sun
was at the raising
of Lazarus from the
dead (Jn. 11:1-44;
Chron. 173, 316).
Moreover,
it was New Moon in
Leo at the raising
of Lazarus from the
dead, whereby the
Moon was in
conjunction with
Regulus at 5°
Leo.
The Sun at 3°
Leo is aligned with
the mega star Eta
Leo (luminosity
15,000), the first
star above Regulus
in the “sickle” of
Leo. |
|
22 |
Venus enters Cancer,
where it was at the
death (assumption)
of the Virgin Mary
in Ephesus (Chron.
136, 157).
|
|
22/23 |
The Sun is conjunct
the royal star
Regulus at 5° Leo,
known as the “Watcher
in the North”.
The New Moon was in
conjunction with
Regulus at the
greatest of Christ’s
miracles, the
raising of Lazarus
from the dead (Jn.
11:1). Regulus is 77
light years away and
has a luminosity 140
times that of our
Sun. It is one of
the four royal stars
– the other three
being Aldebaran (15°
Taurus), Antares
(15° Scorpio), and
Fomalhaut (9°
Aquarius). These
royal stars – in
particular Aldebaran
and Antares – define
the central axis of
the sidereal zodiac. |
|
26 |
Mars (Gemini)
opposite Pluto
(Sagittarius) as at
the following
appearances of the
Risen One: to the
eleven disciples
(Jn. 20:26), to the
seven disciples (Jn.
21:1), and to the
500 disciples (I
Corinthians 15:6). |
|
28 |
The
Sun is at 10˝° Leo,
where it was at the
healing of the
nobleman’s son (Jn.
4:46; Chron. 165,
239).
The Sun is in the
second decan of Leo,
ruled by Jupiter and
associated with the
tail of the Great
Bear, Ursa Major. |
|
29 |
Heliocentric Mars
enters Taurus, where
it was at the
feeding of the 5000
and the walking on
the water (Jn. 6:1;
Chron. 170, 171,
276). |
